The old Sugar House Deseret Industries store at 2234 Highland Drive in Salt Lake City took on a new character as the three-venue Fringe Factory, the backdrop for the inaugural Great Salt Lake Fringe Festival, which kicked off four days of performances on Thursday. Organizers hope to draw more than 2, 000 people to 200 shows, including dance concerts, theater shows, street parties and concerts at Westminster College theaters and at the Factory and spilling out onto Sugar House streets. A Fringe tattoo is $5, with shows $10; admission fees are earmarked for performers. For schedule information, visit greatsaltlakefringe.org.
