The Great Lakes Children’s Museum is a brick-red one-story building located at 13240 S. West Bay Shore Drive, which is also known as M-22. The Museum is on the campus of the Discovery Center ~ Great Lakes, immediately across from West Bay, in Greilickville, Elmwood Township. We are less than two miles from downtown Traverse City.

From east of Traverse City – State Park, GT Resort, Elk Rapids, etc.
- Get on US 31 southbound (also known variously as Munson Ave., Front St., and Grandview Parkway).
- Where the road breaks into a “Y” at the Holiday Inn, stay alongside the Bay (bear right). Continue straight on Grandview Parkway (also M-72 and US-31) for about 2 miles through traffic lights at Park St., Union St., and Division Ave. Get in right lane after the light at Division (US-31 turns south here). Follow the signs to “Northport.”
- Stay on Grandview Parkway, until it becomes M-22 (near Tom’s grocery store and the Grandview Building). Go straight through the traffic light (right lane).
- The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will be on your left .7 of a mile from the M-22/M-72 traffic light.
From south of Traverse City – Great Wolf Lodge, Grand Traverse Mall, Chum’s Corners, etc.
- Get on US 31 northbound (also known as Division St. in Traverse City).
- When US 31 dead-ends at the Grandview Parkway (at the waters of Grand Traverse Bay), turn left at West Grandview Parkway/M-22 West. Follow signs to “Northport.”
- Stay on Grandview Parkway for about a mile, until it becomes M-22 (near Tom’s market and the Grandview Building) Go straight through the traffic light (right lane).
- The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will be on your left .7 of a mile from the M-72/M-22 traffic light.
From northern Leelanau County – Suttons Bay, Leland, Northport, etc.
- Get on M-22 in Suttons Bay.
- Continue south through the traffic signal at Cherry Bend Road.
- The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will be on your right, immediately after Mancino’s Pizzas & Subs and Family Video.
From western Leelanau County – Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Cedar, etc.
- Get on eastbound M-72.
- When M-72 dead-ends at M-22 (at the waters of Grand Traverse Bay), turn left on M-22.
- The Great Lakes Children’s Museum will be on your left .7 mile from the M-72/M-22 traffic light.
